PRIVACY

How Wauchi works, and where your data lives

Wauchi was born with one clear goal: the utmost privacy. Here you find, plainly, what happens to your data when you use the app.

01We keep no archive of your data

Wauchi is an app, not a service that collects data. There is no Wauchi database of users: we don’t ask you to create a Wauchi account, we don’t keep your transactions, your documents or your contracts. Everything you upload or write goes to one place only: your cloud, in your account.

02Your cloud, a folder reserved for the app

Today the cloud is Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive; the apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac will add iCloud. Wauchi asks for one permission only for your files, the one for the folder reserved for apps: it doesn’t see your files, your photos or your mail, and it can’t touch them. On Drive the folder is hidden; on OneDrive you can see it, it is called Apps › Wauchi. In that folder it keeps your archive: the properties, the tenants, the contracts, the transactions read from the bank statements and the originals of the documents you uploaded.

You sign in with your Google or Microsoft account, directly in Google’s or Microsoft’s own window: your password never passes through Wauchi. The service gives the app a temporary permission, which you can revoke whenever you want from your account’s settings. With Microsoft the app also asks to read your name and your photo, to show them at the top, and to stay signed in for a day without opening the window again.

03Who can read the archive

  • You, through Wauchi, from any device with the same account.
  • Your cloud provider keeps the files as it keeps everything else in your cloud, on its terms. The same already holds today for every bank statement or document that reaches you by email.
  • Not us. We have no access to your cloud. Only with the AI assistant does the document you are reading pass through our bridge, for a few seconds, without being kept (below, “When you use the AI”).

The vaultcoming soon will be the extra option for those who want the most: the archive is encrypted on your device before it is saved, with a key that stays only on your devices and in the recovery key you keep yourself. With the vault not even Google, Microsoft or Apple will be able to read your data; in return, if you lose all your devices and the recovery key, nobody will be able to get it back, not even us.

04You are always in control

  • You can delete the archive from the app at any time: it disappears from your cloud, and no other copy exists.
  • You can remove Wauchi’s permission from your Google or Microsoft account: the app can no longer get in.
  • Exporting everything in a readable format (one single file, the PDFs, an Excel sheet) will arrive with the next versions, and it will work without a subscription too.

05When you use the AI

The AI assistant is there to read a contract when the app’s rules are not enough, and you use it only if you say yes the first time it is needed (you turn it on and off from Settings). This is the path: your device sends the text of the contract to our bridge, a small function that runs on Cloudflare and holds the provider’s key; the bridge passes it to the artificial intelligence, today Mistral on Scaleway’s servers, in France; the answer comes back to your device. Neither the bridge nor the provider keeps the document, and nothing is used to train the AI.

Before sending, we replace the names of the people already in your archive with placeholders; a digital PDF goes as text, never as an image; photos and scans go as images, because there is no other way to read them. The contract also contains your tenant’s data: if you’d rather it never left your device, leave the AI off and enter the contract’s details yourself.

06What we don’t do

  • No Wauchi account, no passwords of ours.
  • No third-party tracking or analytics tools, no advertising, no selling of data.
  • This page and the app are files served by a content delivery network (Cloudflare), which, like every site, records the technical data of the requests; your data doesn’t pass through there, except the document you read with the AI assistant, which passes through our bridge (above, “When you use the AI”).
  • On your device stay your preferences (such as the theme), Google’s or Microsoft’s permission while it lasts (an hour with Google, a day with Microsoft) and a copy of the archive, to open it at once: “Sign out” deletes the permission and the copy.
